Corn Roast & Flavored Butter
Right now fresh ears of corn on the cob are plentiful in the grocery store and along roadside produce stands. The price is right, too. Under 25 cents a serving. Can’t beat that. Normally, that means we would be up for hosting a corn roast & flavored butter with drinks at our house. Due to scheduling this year, that might not happen.
But that doesn’t stop us from enjoying a corn roast of our own and whipping up two of our favorite kinds of butter to share with our own family.
Let me share them with you. That way, I will not feel as bad by not having our usual crew over to the house this year.
Roasting the Corn:
I have done this two ways in previous years. The easy way, and the hard way AND the more labor intensive as I call it. Each has their own benefit, it all depends on the route you want to take and what additional items you are serving.
Roasted Corn
There is something about having blackened, smoky corn with flavored butter that impresses guests.
Directions:
1.) Pull the husks down (don’t remove them) but remove the silks.
2.) Brush the corn with plain butter and pull the husks back up.
3.) Grill the corn over medium heat a charcoal or gas grill about ten minutes. 8 minutes a side.
No worries about blackened corn – it’s all good. The secondary flavored butter will be wonderful.
How Much Corn is Enough?
Magic question, huh? You would be surprised to know most females eat 4 cobs and the men, 6 cobs. Many times, we also snap a corn cob in half and butter each side differently.
Yes, they really do tend to enjoy a few drinks, fill up on corn and a few random small snacks I provide. An enjoyable, and easy night of entertaining. People tend to look forward to the night I host to see what flavors I come up with.
Flavored Corn Butters
